eScriptorium – archive of rare books and manuscripts for research and education.

Welcome to the electronic archive eScriptorium!

This resource is creating by the Central Scientific Library of V. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

We invite all libraries of higher education institutions of Ukraine which have the appropriate collections and equipment for digitizing to participate in the project. Fundamental Library of V. Dokuchaev Kharkiv National Agrarian University and Scientific Library of Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics have already joined the project of the electronic archive creation.

еScriptorium archive contains complete electronic versions (or fragments) of the rare books and manuscripts and is created for educational and research purposes. Much attention is paid to the digitization of Kharkiv publications. We strive, first of all, to convey to our reader the content. In some cases, we do not have the opportunity to carry out a preliminary restoration of the editions, while the quality of the electronic copy suffers. But it should be noted that many editions provided in the еScriptorium are unique, it is impossible to find them in other libraries or other full-text archives.

The electronic versions of the documents placed in еScriptorium as well as their originals are the property of the libraries that have provided them.
